In my previous blogs I mentioned the ranch I hope to own one day, however I did not talk about the house I want on it. It has always been my dream to have a five bedroom country style log cabin. One thing I want is a full wrap-around porch to spend my evenings looking out over the beauties that the countryside has to offer.
A log cabin style home can be quite costly but with proper maintenance and care can last forever. I want the cabin to have an open vault ceiling with the large support beams visible. Five bedrooms should be just right being that I want a large family. I spent most of my childhood sharing a room with my sister and do not want that for my kids.
One thing that will be a must with the new house is a large kitchen. In the kitchen I plan on having all stainless steel appliances, refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven and sink. I want plenty of storage space, so there will be lots of cabinets and an island in the middle of the kitchen. The counter tops will be Baltic Brown granite and the cabinets will be stained dark brown to match the log walls. I will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen, so it will have to be big.
Attached to my kitchen will be the living room. I want a fireplace so keep warm during the cold winters. On the wall next to the fireplace will be the entertainment center with a 64” TV. There will be a couch, love seat, and two recliners. Growing up we spent a lot of time in the kitchen and living room. Therefore, they will be the heart of the home.
The master bedroom with be very spacious. I want a king size bed with two night stands. I also plan on having a huge master bath with a walk-in closet. The bathroom will have a big Jacuzzi tub and a walk in shower with his and her sinks. The closet will have to be very big to hold my clothes, shoes and for extra storage space.
I will have four other bedrooms for children or guests. Also, I will have a study for my computer and a quiet place to study or pay bills. I want a porch surrounding the entire house. The porch will have to be big as I plan on spending many evening in a swing or rocking chair enjoying the view.
I can’t wait to move into my log cabin!

I recommend cypress for your log house. You won't have to worry about bugs or termites, because they do not invade this species of wood.
I was also thinking cypress. I do not want termites!
Your bathroom sounds awesome! I have always wanted a jacuzzi tub in my bathroom!
