Cozumel

I’ve always wanted to take a trip to Cozumel. My boyfriend’s mom and dad went last year and said it was absolutely amazing. Well, he surprised me a few weeks ago and told me that we would be going next June. He told me that it was going be my graduation present! It is a big gift, but I’m extremely excited that we are getting to go and that I can cross this off my wish list.

We will stay at Windham Spa & Resort Saborside. We will spend a week relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins, exploring the island and enjoying a spa day. I’m really looking forward to every activity that we have planned out so far. There are miles of beachfront for us to walk, layout or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful ocean sunsets. One afternoon of the trip will be swimming with the dolphins. There is a place on the island that lets you swim with them for several hours. During this time, they video tape your interactions with the dolphins (getting pushed on a buggy board, holding on to their fins while they swim) and they take a lot of pictures. All of which is given to you on a dvd at the end of the day. It is usually expensive for this kind of time with the dolphins, especially for the videos and everything but this place does it for $100 per person. That is $200 that we will happily spend. One of the many perks of the resort is that we will get to go snorkeling for free. It will be an all morning event. They take you out on the boat into the crystal clear waters where you can see the fish just by looking overboard. It will be amazing! His mom and dad got to see and get a picture of an almost extinct seahorse species.  I really can’t wait for the spa day. It will be nice to be pampered all day!

The Windham Hotel Spa & Resort offers a love-bird special every February. The special is all inclusive, including everything from airfare to food and drinks. It will cost about $1800, plus an additional $200 for both of us to swim with the dolphins. So roughly $2000 for a week in absolute paradise. What more could we ask for? This trip is definitely something to look forward to, especially after finishing my masters in May.

It is love bird special every February--but you are going in June? Is this confusing?

Oh my gosh I am so jealous, you are going to have to tell me everything about it. I am planning a trip to reward myself after my masters as well, I'm thinking Greece!

A trip when you graduate will be just the ticket.
