Like every college student, I want a good job after I graduate. Luckily, I have succeeded in getting a good job. Last year I interviewed with the accounting firm Grant Thornton and was offered an internship for the Spring 2011. The internship was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the public accounting field. At the end of my internship I was offered a full time job starting after I graduate. This was a great moment in my life that I will never forget.
When starting college I heard Dr. Marsh talk about internship and I knew that I wanted one. I worked hard in school to make good grades so that firms would talk to me. This was a huge challenge. I stayed up many late nights, skipped out on hanging out with my friends, and spent countless hours in the library studying to learn the material that I would be tested over. I did whatever it took to make good grades. I knew in the end that it would all pay off.
During my internship I knew that I had to make a good impression if I wanted a full time offer. It was not a walk in the park to work 60-70 hours week. Most days I would get to the client’s office around 7 and not leave until 10 or 11. On top of that I had an hour commute each way. In order to get all of my work done I had to take work home with me. It is not fun working a 10-13 hour day and going home to only work more. Putting in extra hours and coming in everyday with a smile on my face and eager to learn was how I achieved my goal of getting a good job.
When I was received my full time offer I felt that all the hard work and effort I had put into school and my internship had paid off. It has been a long road but I made it and cannot be more excited about my job after graduation.

The hard work paid off. In the news we hear about the high unemployment rate of college grads all the time. Congratulations your your work has paid off.
Thank you! I am so happy that I am not part of unemployment rate!
I have heard even interships are harder and harder to obtain so congratulations on that honor! Also, getting the full time job is deserving of even greater congratulations! That good ole' saying is so true..."hard work pays off"!
